Operation Blessing, together with our local partner in Latvia, Joy Ministries, was able to take a group of young people on Summer Camp. Many of these children have had an incredibly difficult start to life, with over 80% of attendees coming from severely troubled family backgrounds, where poverty, neglect and abuse are daily battles. These camps provide a safe haven where children can regain some of that lost and damaged childhood. Through daily fellowship together, games, craft sessions and discipleship they can discover what it means to be truly loved and valued.

In the uncertain world in which they live in, they need the hope and light of the Gospel.
The camps often act as a catalyst to the faith of the children with many receiving salvation. The team stays connected to them afterward, guiding them in their faith and helping integrate them into local churches.
Joy Ministries has been impacting the community in Latvia for nearly 30 years and in every aspect of their work, whether through camps, day to day support, or family care, their heart is to build ongoing relationships, create discipleship opportunities, and support long-term spiritual growth, rooted in God’s love, care, and compassion.
Through Operation Blessing’s Child Development pillar, we are supporting not just the work of these summer camps, but the consistent contact and connection with vulnerable children throughout the year. Each week, the Joy Project supports 40 families and 137 children, all living in extreme poverty. Project lead, Viktoria, and her team visit these families with food provisions, study the Bible with them, pray together, and teach simple cooking skills. They also provide clothing, medicine, hygiene products, and Christian literature to meet other basic needs.
