The Twelve Gifts of Christmas

Day 6: The Gift of Life

At first glance, winter can feel barren.
The trees stand bare, the skies turn grey, and the cold wraps around us like a quiet hush. It can seem like all signs of life have gone into hiding.

But then comes Christmas.
A spark in the silence.
A warmth in the chill.
A celebration bursting with light, colour, laughter, and love.

There’s something undeniably powerful about this season. Streets come alive with music and twinkling lights. Strangers gather in city squares, cups of hot chocolate in hand, singing songs that have been passed down for generations.
Families reunite. Friends embrace. Hearts soften.

But beyond the gifts, the glitter, and the gatherings—there is a deeper heartbeat behind it all.
A heartbeat that began in heaven and echoed on earth through the cry of a newborn baby in Bethlehem.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
—John 3:16 (NIV)

Jesus is the life at the centre of it all.
The greatest gift ever given.
The Light that pierced our darkness.
The reason we have hope, joy, and eternal life.

God—who created the universe—looked at you and decided you were worth everything.
So He gave His Son.
Not just to be born in a manger, but to live, die, and rise again… so that you might live fully and freely, both now and forever.

So today, don’t just glance at the surface of the season.
Look deeper.
Let the beauty of Christmas remind you that you’ve been given the most precious gift of all: life in Jesus.

You are loved.
You are seen.
You are here with purpose.

Celebrate the life that came to us in the middle of winter – and never left.
