The Twelve Gifts of Christmas

Day 3: The Gift of Forgiveness

Did you know that – you are truly, completely, fully forgiven?

“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”
—Isaiah 1:18 (NIV)

This verse captures something so beautiful: God’s forgiveness doesn’t just wipe the slate clean – He transforms us. He washes us white as snow. And He does it again… and again… and again.

“Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression… You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy… You will hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.”
—Micah 7:18–19 (NIV)

Isn’t that incredible? Our God delights in showing mercy. He doesn’t forgive reluctantly – He forgives joyfully, fully, and without hesitation. Every single time.

Let that sink in:
God doesn’t hold grudges.
He doesn’t keep score.
He isn’t waiting for you to “get it all together.”
He just wants you to come.

Sometimes it’s hard for us to understand this kind of grace. Forgiving someone once can feel hard enough – but again and again? That kind of mercy is supernatural. And that’s exactly what God offers you today: supernatural mercy and freedom.

Over 2,000 years ago, a Saviour entered our broken world. He came for you. To carry your shame, your guilt, your sin – and nail it all to the cross. Because of Jesus, condemnation has no place in your life. You are free.

So if you’re carrying something heavy today – something hidden, something unspoken – why not let this Christmas be your moment of release? Let it be the beginning of a new season. A fresh start. A heart made clean.

You have full access to your Heavenly Father – right here, right now. He’s not distant. He’s close. And He’s inviting you to step into the fullness of His grace, forgiveness, and peace.

Spend some time with Him today. Let Him search your heart gently. Ask Him to bring healing to the parts of you still weighed down.
And believe this truth: You are forgiven. And you are free.
