“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”
(Galatians 5:25 NIV)
Keeping your faith fresh requires walking daily by the Spirit, not relying on your own efforts or following a checklist of religious rules.
A wise man once advised me to start each day by asking the Holy Spirit to guide me. It sounds simple but, if lived out, can result in wonderful encounters both with God and with other people.
For example, you could ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to someone who needs prayer that day, then listen carefully as you walk through your day for the prompting of the Spirit. I’ve heard many testimonies from CBN UK where someone has begun their day by praying that God would encourage them and then one of our faithful partner support team have connected with them following a prompting by the Holy Spirit!
Life in the Spirit is dynamic. Rather than thinking you know it all and that your routine is set, the Spirit can interrupt your day in the most unexpected of ways.
Life following the Holy Spirit is also full of growth and transformation. We may find ourselves stretched and inconvenienced when the Spirit calls us to stop in the busyness of our day and notice someone or something. What a blessing! To be so in touch with the Spirit and to know that our hearts are aligned with God’s leading!
Consider how you’re currently walking with the Spirit.
Are you letting the Holy Spirit guide and refresh your faith daily, or are you relying on your own strength and routine?
What do you think it means to “keep in step” with the Spirit?
Can I encourage you to invite the Holy Spirit to lead you every day in every area of your life? Pray for sensitivity to His guidance and the willingness to follow His prompting to keep your faith alive and growing.
If we walk around, zombie-like, in our everyday routines, we are missing out on the God-adventure that He whispers to us each morning.
Let’s commit to never allowing our walk with Jesus to stagnate, but to walk with the Spirit wherever He may lead us.
He is trustworthy. He knows us, knows our hearts and wants to give us life in all of its fullness!
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
