This is Austin. He is a bright, determined 13-year-old who loves to play with his friends. Austin is part of our Operation Blessing partner program in Kenya, Missions of Hope. He lives with his mother and his older sibling in a slum called Korogocho.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Like so many other families in this area, Austin’s life is marked with hardship and trial. His father is absent from the home and his mum does what she can to provide for her family. She works tirelessly to make ends meet, but even so, sometimes there is barely enough to cover the basic necessities. When Austin’s mum lost her job, an already difficult situation became increasingly challenging.
That’s when the team at Missions of Hope, supported by CBN’s Operation Blessing, came alongside Austin and his family to ensure that they would not be left in this dire situation alone. Standing beside the family, the team made sure that Austin and his sibling could continue their education as their mum was guided and supported in her pursuit of new employment. In a season of great hardship and testing, our CBN family was able to bring hope and help to Austin and his mum.
Today, we join with Austin and celebrate a miraculous turnaround in his life.
With the support she received, Austin’s mum has been able to secure a stable job and the family is finding its feet again. Worry and stress has turned to joy and hope for the future. Through your support we have been able to offer Austin’s mum with training and support with a financial stewardship course and microfinance program, equipping her to not only meet the needs of today, but giving her the tools to plan for a brighter tomorrow.
Austin has also continued to thrive in his studies, growing in his academic endeavors and shaping his future.
This story is much more than just a comeback story, but a testimony to the holistic care that our CBN family of ministries can provide to those in tough situations.
