At CBN UK, we recently had the honour of hosting Marie Aitken at our UK offices. Marie is a dynamic leader, serving as the Senior Relationship Manager for Alpha UK and a key member of the leadership team at Hillsong Church, Liverpool.
Marie also plays a vital role in the Luis Palau Association, an organisation devoted to evangelism, a mission she deeply shares. Her passion for helping others encounter Jesus is evident in every aspect of her work.
In the interview below, Marie’s profound love for Jesus shines through. She encountered Christ at 17, and from that moment, has devoted herself to mission and ministry, making a significant impact in every sphere God has placed her in.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Marie’s journey spans from the banking sector to youth ministry, where she has touched countless lives. Known for her strong administrative skills, Marie uses this gift effectively in her current roles.
Beyond her administrative talents, Marie’s heart for evangelism is unmistakable. She carries this mission into the workplace, openly sharing her faith with colleagues, as well as in her spiritual leadership roles.
Marie believes in living out the Gospel rather than preaching it overtly. Her life is a testimony, guided by the verse from 1 Peter 3:
“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” (1 Peter 3:15 NIV)
Marie’s approach to evangelism is rooted in building authentic relationships and engaging in meaningful conversations, marked by gentleness and respect – principles we can all aspire to.
A key contributor to the development of “Keep It Simple,” a five-part series focused on sharing Jesus, your testimony, and your faith effectively, Marie draws inspiration from the story of the woman at the well. Just as the woman dropped her water jar and ran to tell her village about Jesus, Marie encourages us to share the Gospel with those uniquely placed in our lives, in the simplest and most honest way possible.
