The Bandwagon of Deception: A CBN UK Founder’s Reflection

The following article reflects the personal perspective of one of our founders and does not necessarily represent the official theological stance of CBN UK. We share it here to encourage biblical reflection, prayerful dialogue, and deeper study of the relationship between the Church and Israel.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Introduction

Have we, as the global Church, embraced a deception that has distanced us from our spiritual heritage? This reflective article explores how historical developments and theological shifts may have led the Church away from its biblical connection to Israel – and why that matters today.

A Tale of Two Councils

In Acts 15, the Council of Jerusalem responded to a pivotal question: Should Gentile believers be required to adopt Jewish customs? The answer was clear – Gentiles were welcomed without conversion to Judaism. This Spirit-led decision was inclusive and rooted in grace. By contrast, the Council of Nicaea in AD 325 excluded Jewish voices and discouraged Jewish practices. Emperor Constantine’s language marked a shift that helped seed centuries of antisemitism within Church structures.

Paul’s Warning to the Gentiles

Paul saw the danger of disconnecting the Church from its Jewish roots. Romans 9–11 outlines God’s ongoing covenant with Israel. Paul never renounced his heritage but affirmed it, calling himself a “Hebrew of Hebrews.” He urged Gentiles not to become arrogant, reminding them that they are grafted in by grace.

What If We've Been Wrong?

This reflection challenges readers with a series of ‘what if’ questions: What if historical Church leaders were mistaken in their view of Israel? What if Replacement Theology is false? What if modern institutions and ideologies continue to perpetuate lies against Israel? These questions are not accusations but invitations to weigh our beliefs against Scripture.

Why This Matters Now

The rise in antisemitism is not accidental. The enemy has long sought to undermine God’s redemptive plan by targeting the Jewish people. Scripture teaches that Jesus will return to Jerusalem – this is why spiritual warfare surrounds the nation of Israel. History, hatred, and propaganda are part of a larger deception.

Conclusion: A Call to Humility and Clarity

This is not about politics – it’s about prophecy. The Church must return to biblical truth, honour its Jewish roots, and recognise the debt we owe. We are grafted into Israel’s story. Let us humble ourselves and repent, remembering that we each will give an account before God.
