The Simple Truth

Fear: A Daily Struggle We All Know

Despite the fact that the Bible tells us “do not fear” (or a variation of it) around 365 times – one for every single day of the year – fear still manages to creep into our lives.

We fear the unexpected bill that could upend our finances.
We fear the heartbreak of relationships falling apart.
We fear declining health and the pain or discomfort it may bring.

These fears are real and deeply human. But if you are a follower of Jesus, Scripture reminds you repeatedly: fear should not have the final word.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Passing From Death to Life

When you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, everything changes. The Bible teaches that you have already crossed over from death into life.

That means you no longer need to live under the shadow of death. Even the sting of dying has been removed, because for the believer, death is not the end – it’s the doorway into eternity with God.

Hebrews 2:14-15 (NLT) declares this freedom:

“Because God’s children are human beings – made of flesh and blood – the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.”

Through His death and resurrection, Jesus broke death’s grip forever.

Fighting Fear With Truth

Jesus Himself faced temptation in the wilderness, and He resisted by declaring the truth of God’s Word. In the same way, we can push back against fear by clinging to Scripture.

Romans 8:38-39 (NLT) reminds us of an unshakable promise:

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow – not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.”

Nothing – not fear, not death, not even the supernatural – can separate you from the love of God found in Christ Jesus.

The Supernatural: No Longer a Mystery to Fear

The world loves to make the supernatural mysterious, dark, and even terrifying. But Scripture pulls back the curtain and shows us the truth: Jesus has already won.

Colossians 2:15 (NLT) reveals:

“In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.”

Rather than obsessing over spiritual darkness or researching endlessly about it, we can rest in one truth – Jesus is greater. He is Lord over all powers, rulers, and authorities. If He has disarmed them, then they hold no ultimate power over us.

The Simple but Powerful Truth

It may sound almost too simple, but that’s the beauty of the Gospel:

  • Jesus has defeated death.
  • Jesus has disarmed the powers of the supernatural.
  • Jesus has promised that nothing can separate us from His love.

Fear loses its grip when we stop complicating things and start trusting the One who has already overcome.

Once and for all.
